1. Scope
Welcome to Findu (also known as Findu.co, the “App” or “Service”). These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Zhong Ming, the application developer (应用研发方) and application operator (应用运营方) of Findu (“we”, “us”).
By downloading, installing, registering for, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Before registering or signing in, you must check the box to agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Without agreement, registration or login cannot be completed.
2. Service Description
The App provides friend location, location history, friend management, and optional end-to-end location encryption, helping you stay connected with mutual consent.
Location sharing is sensitive. You may turn off location reporting at any time, or limit who can view your location in privacy settings. Without your authorization, we will not show your live location to non-friends or unauthorized users.
Important: the App supports end-to-end location encryption. You may enable keys and choose whether new coordinates are uploaded as ciphertext. When encrypted upload is on, the server and operators cannot read your plaintext coordinates; decryption happens only on your device and authorized friends’ devices. See Section 3 and the Privacy Policy.
3. End-to-End Location Encryption & Your Duties (Highlight)
“Enable keys” and “Encrypt uploads” are separate. Enabling keys lets you decrypt friends’ encrypted locations and share sealed key material with authorized friends. Whether your own new points are uploaded encrypted is a separate switch (off by default, so uploads may remain plaintext).
The recovery key is only for you to restore keys after switching devices or clearing data — not for friends to view your location. The server stores only a backup wrapped with your recovery key and cannot unwrap it or recover the key for you.
You must keep your recovery key safe (write it down or use a password manager). If it is lost and this device has no keys, encrypted location history cannot be decrypted and we cannot help recover it. Do not share the recovery key or upload screenshots to chat or cloud drives.
Disabling keys also turns off encrypted uploads. Your server-side key backup is usually retained so you can recover with the original recovery key or re-enable on this device. Choosing to replace keys with a new recovery key may make old ciphertext undecryptable and may purge encrypted coordinates.
Friends can view your encrypted locations only if both sides have keys enabled, you grant them location permission, and DEK sharing is completed. Users without keys may be unable to decrypt ciphertext points.
You may clear all historical coordinates for your account (plaintext and ciphertext) in the App. This cannot be undone.
4. Account & Eligibility
You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure. You may also register or sign in with Apple, Weibo, or QQ; third-party sign-in remains subject to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Losses caused by credential misuse are your responsibility.
You represent that you are at least 14 years old (or the higher minimum age required where you live). Minors should use the Service under guardian guidance.
You may not impersonate others, or lend, transfer, or otherwise allow others to use your account for unlawful activities.
5. Acceptable Use
You must not use the Service for illegal activities, including stalking, harassment, threats, distributing unlawful content, unauthorized access, disrupting the Service, reverse engineering, or attacks.
Use system permissions (location, photos, microphone, notifications) lawfully and only when needed. Respect friends’ privacy and do not publicly disclose their location or itinerary without consent.
We may suspend or terminate service for abuse, fraud, or illegal activity, and cooperate with authorities as required by law.
6. User Content
Text, images, locations, voice, and other content you send (“User Content”) are your responsibility. Ensure you have the right to share them and that they do not violate laws or others’ rights.
Location and itinerary visible among friends are part of mutual interaction; share sensitive information carefully. For coordinates you choose to upload encrypted, we cannot view or provide plaintext to third parties.
7. Intellectual Property
The App’s UI, code, icons, docs, and branding belong to us or respective rights holders.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control for personal non-commercial use (except as otherwise allowed by law).
8. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is”. Location data may be delayed or inaccurate due to network, device, permissions, and map/provider factors. We do not guarantee absolute positioning accuracy.
If encrypted locations become undecryptable because you lost your recovery key, disabled/replaced keys, or lost device keys, you bear those consequences. We cannot decrypt end-to-end ciphertext or recover your recovery key.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses caused by network failures, third-party outages, device compatibility, force majeure, or your own actions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.
9. Changes & Termination
We may update these Terms and publish them on the website and/or in the App with an effective date. Material changes will be announced prominently. Continued use means acceptance of the updated Terms.
You may stop using and uninstall the App at any time. We may also suspend or discontinue the Service for specific versions or platforms when necessary.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Mainland China (excluding conflict-of-law rules), unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
Disputes should first be resolved amicably; otherwise either party may bring suit in a court of competent jurisdiction.
