Android install guide

If the phone says unknown-source installs are blocked, allow the app that opens the package, then install the official Findu APK. On iPhone, search for Findu in the App Store.

Why the install is blocked

The block is a system safeguard against packages that did not come from the built-in store. Since Android 8 there is no single unknown-sources switch. You allow the app that opens the APK: Files if you open it there, the browser if you install from a download, or WeChat or QQ if you tap the file inside those apps.

Install only the APK from the Findu website. If the system says the app is unverified, risky, or high-risk, confirm the file is ours, then choose Continue, Install anyway, or Allow this install once. Menu names change between versions. Search Settings for 安装未知应用, 外部来源, or 纯净模式. Names below are the Chinese labels you will see on phones sold in China.

The same sequence on every brand

  1. On the website, scan the QR code or tap APK Download and save the official package.
  2. Open the APK. If installation starts, review the permissions, tap Install, then open Findu.
  3. If installation is blocked, allow that source using your brand’s steps below, then open the package again. When the dialog has a Settings button, use it — it jumps to the right switch.
  4. After Findu is installed, turn the install permission back off. If you paused Pure mode, Enhanced protection, or a security scan only for this install, turn it back on. You can delete the APK file.

Xiaomi / Redmi

MIUI 14, HyperOS

  1. Settings → Security → Unknown-source installs (未知来源安装). The list shows apps that can install packages.
  2. Turn on the app you use to open the APK, usually Files or the browser.
  3. If that menu is missing, search Settings for 安装未知应用. On HyperOS the usual path is Settings → Privacy protection → Special permissions → Install unknown apps. On MIUI: Settings → Apps → Manage apps → the three-dot menu → Install unknown apps.
  4. If install is still forbidden: Settings → Security → Pure mode → turn it off. Or on the install screen tap Settings at the top right → Pure mode → Allow this install once, then open the package again. Another entry is Settings → Privacy protection → App security → Pure mode. Turning it off may ask for your lock-screen password.
  5. If it is still blocked after Pure mode is off, restart the phone and open the package again.

Leave MIUI optimization on in Developer options. Turning it off can break installs and features such as app dual.

App dual cannot install an APK. Install Findu in the main system.

Huawei (HarmonyOS 4 and earlier, EMUI)

HarmonyOS 2 / 3 / 4, EMUI 12 and similar

Open Settings → About phone first. HarmonyOS 4 and earlier, and EMUI, follow this section. HarmonyOS 5 and later must use Zhuoyitong in the next section. Do not open the APK from the system desktop.

  1. Settings → Security → More security settings → Install apps from external sources. On some phones this sits under Security and privacy.
  2. Open Files or your browser and turn on Allow app installs.
  3. On a risk warning, confirm the package is official, check the acknowledgement, tap Continue, and enter your password if asked.
  4. On HarmonyOS 3 and 4, Pure mode can still block the install: Settings → System & updates → Pure mode, turn off Enhanced protection, then open the package again.
  5. If Files says it is not allowed to install apps, allow the app that actually opens the package. You can also open it from a browser you already allowed. You do not need a random third-party file manager.
  6. Install history: Settings → Security → More security settings → Install apps from external sources → Install records.

Findu does not need Google Play services. If it will not install or closes immediately, do not add MicroG or a Google framework. Check that the download is complete and storage is free, then contact us.

HarmonyOS NEXT

Huawei HarmonyOS 5 and later: install Zhuoyitong first

HarmonyOS 5, HarmonyOS NEXT

HarmonyOS 5 and later have no system-level Android compatibility, so Files and the home screen cannot install an APK directly. Install Zhuoyitong (卓易通) first. It provides an Android environment, and Findu is installed inside it.

  1. Settings → About phone. Confirm the system is HarmonyOS 5 or later.
  2. Open Huawei AppGallery, search for 卓易通, and install it. Use AppGallery only, not a package from a random web page.
  3. The first launch downloads the Android runtime. Stay on Wi-Fi if you can and wait until that download finishes. It is large.
  4. Download the official APK from the Findu website.
  5. In Zhuoyitong, use the local-install or file entry (the button label varies) and pick the APK. If you open the file from system Files, choose Zhuoyitong as the app to open it.
  6. When installation finishes, start Findu from inside Zhuoyitong and allow location, notifications, and the other permissions it asks for.

Findu runs inside Zhuoyitong. Uninstalling Zhuoyitong also stops Findu from running.

Background location inside a compatibility environment is less reliable than on a native Android phone. Allow Zhuoyitong to run in the background, and follow the Android keep-alive steps in the FAQ. If location still stops updating, use a phone that still runs Android apps, or an iPhone.

OPPO

ColorOS 13, ColorOS 14, and later

  1. Settings → Security → Unknown-source installs. Allow Files or the browser. Prefer the built-in Files app for the official package.
  2. On ColorOS 12 and later the menu may instead be Settings → Password & security → System security → External source apps. ColorOS 11 to 11.3: Settings → Security → Install external source apps. Older ColorOS 7: Settings → Additional settings → Device & privacy → Install external source apps.
  3. A non-store install may ask for your lock-screen password or account. Complete that prompt.
  4. If it is still blocked, pull down the notification shade, tap the blocked-install notice, and choose Install anyway — only after you have confirmed the file is from Findu.
  5. If Payment protection is what blocks the install: Settings → Security → Payment protection. Turn it off only while you install, then turn it straight back on.
  6. ColorOS 14 and later can show blocked install attempts in the security center. A larger package may sit on a security scan for a while; wait for the scan to finish.

vivo / iQOO

OriginOS 3, OriginOS 4, Funtouch OS

  1. Settings → Security → Unknown-source installs, and allow Files or the browser. iQOO uses the same menus.
  2. If OriginOS does not show that item: Settings → Security & privacy → More security settings → Install unknown apps. Alternative: Settings → Apps & permissions (or Privacy) → Permission manager → Permissions → Install unknown apps.
  3. If a dialog says malicious apps are blocked, tap Install anyway only for the official package. If that button is missing: Settings → Security & privacy → More security settings → App install, temporarily turn off Block malicious apps; or i Manager → Security scan, temporarily turn off online security scan. Turn it back on after Findu is installed.
  4. Install history: i Manager → Security scan → App install management.
  5. Allow install via USB (Settings → System management → Developer options) is only for installing from a computer. A QR code or browser download does not need it.

Older Funtouch OS: Settings → Security → Unknown sources, or Settings → More settings → Applications → Install unknown apps.

vivo: cannot install a high-risk app

Samsung

One UI 5, One UI 6, and later

  1. Settings → Biometrics and security → Install unknown apps. Newer One UI: Settings → Security and privacy → More security settings → Install unknown apps.
  2. Select My Files or the browser you downloaded with (Chrome or Samsung Internet) and turn on Allow from this source.
  3. Findu needs location and background running, so install it in the main system. Secure Folder is for isolating other apps; do not leave Findu only inside Secure Folder.
  4. In Samsung DeX you can double-click the APK in the file manager. After that, open Findu from the phone itself.

OnePlus

ColorOS in China, OxygenOS overseas

  1. OnePlus phones sold in China use ColorOS, the same as OPPO: Settings → Security → Unknown-source installs, or Settings → Password & security → System security → External source apps. Use the OPPO steps above for Install anyway and for turning Payment protection back on.
  2. Overseas OxygenOS: Settings → Security & lock screen → Unknown-source installs. Opening the APK also asks whether that app may install; allow it, then go back and continue.
  3. If OxygenOS has no Security & lock screen menu: Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps, and allow Files or the browser.

Honor

Magic UI, MagicOS

  1. Settings → Security → More security settings → Install apps from external sources. Some phones put this under Privacy and security.
  2. Search Settings for 外部来源应用下载 and turn that switch on. Then, under external-source installs, allow the browser or Files.
  3. Older models may still have Pure mode: Settings → System & updates → Pure mode, turn off Enhanced protection, then install.
  4. If a security policy blocks this install source, search Settings for Device admin apps and turn off any third-party device admin, then try again.

Honor: app will not install

Meizu

Flyme

  1. Settings → Security → Unknown-source installs, and allow Files or the browser.
  2. If it is missing, search Settings for 安装未知应用. Newer Flyme usually uses Settings → Apps → Special permissions → Install unknown apps.
  3. When the install dialog is blocked, tap Settings on that dialog. Flyme usually has no extra Pure mode; this one switch is enough.

realme

realme UI

  1. realme UI 5, 6, and 7: Settings → Security & privacy → More security & privacy → Installation sources.
  2. realme UI 3 and 4: Settings → Password & security → System security → Installation sources. Earlier: Settings → Security → Unknown source installations, or Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps.
  3. Allow the browser or Files. Continue past a risk warning only for the official package. realme UI is close to ColorOS; if a payment-protection style switch blocked the install, turn it back on afterward.

Motorola and Sony

Close to stock Android

  1. Settings → Security → Unknown-source installs, or Settings → Apps & notifications → Special app access → Install unknown apps.
  2. Select the browser or file manager that opens the package and turn on Allow from this source.
  3. These phones usually do not add Pure mode or payment protection. Open the official APK and accept the system prompt.

ZTE, Nubia, Lenovo, and others

  1. Search Settings for Install unknown apps or Unknown sources, then allow the app that opens the package.
  2. If the install screen is blocked, tap Settings on the dialog so you grant the app that actually tried to install.
  3. If it still fails, send us the full error text plus the phone brand and OS version.

Quick reference

These are the most common entries. After a system update the label can change; use search on the phone if a path is missing.

After it is installed

  1. On first open, look at the permissions. Location and notifications are what Findu uses to share location and alert you. You can deny permissions that are unrelated.
  2. Turn off the unknown-source permission you enabled for the install. If you paused Pure mode, Enhanced protection, Payment protection, or malicious-app blocking, turn those back on.
  3. Delete the APK so you do not open an old file later.
  4. If the phone has Google Play Protect, you can leave app scanning on. Phones without it should keep the built-in security scan. Findu does not need a Google services package.
  5. Background location is a separate setup. After install, use the Android keep-alive steps in the FAQ if updates stop while the screen is off.
